Side rant: Who are these clowns running Hockey Canada?

I feel bad for our neighbors to the north today. You guys deserved better. Your team should've been the favorite to win this year. It boggles my mind, how do you reject having so much talent on your team? How do you leave the likes of Beckett Sennecke, Andrew Cristall, Carter Yakemchuk, and Zayne Parekh off your team? And how on earth do you have Porter Martone in the press box? And which genius thought the best way to win is to have 4th liners taking up half your roster? It blows my mind lol. Who decided that these were the smartest people to lead the program?

Trust me, that selection process was horrid. They claimed to the media up here they were building a "defense first" team. Outside of Catton, I didn't feel we had a high end offensive player on the roster (McKenna next year).

They tried to use their D to join the rush and overpower the opposition in the offensive end, when the evidence showed this cost them multiple goals and odd man rushes versus. They didn't have the skilled D outside of Molendyk who could do this. Don't like to trash on guys, but the Dickenson/Bonk pairing was horrible, even though they play full time together in London.

Worst is their teenage horomones got in the way and constantly led them to find themselves a man short for stupid penalties.

I am not shocked by the result, but Hockey Canada needs to have a hard look at their selection camp, and ask why they left off high end offensive talent, when historically, the tournament is a showcase of gifted offensive talents.

I’m with Alex… embarrassing and beyond frustrating to watch. The “defence first” approach and building a “cohesive team” is such bull… everybody knew it would be a mess and look at the result. They couldn’t stay out of the box and didn’t have the firepower on the team to get any offence anyway. Just brutal.

And I love Dave Cameron's answer to why they never practiced. The players were tired. LOL. I dont like trashing people either, but come on. From my outsider perspective, I saw a program selecting players to the team based on how much they liked them and knew them vs merit or talent. And Cameron saying afterward that he has no regrets and knew these would be tight games is funny. Yeah, they're close and tight games because of how many goals you left at home.

Is now the time to put Eduard Sale on the trade market or too soon?
