Rule Change Proposal Discussion - Lottery Draft (Prospect)

Page 1 of 2Next

Hey fellas,

Throwing this out there; lottery draft for eliminated teams from regular season into playoffs.

Not that I outright condone tanking, makes it a bit more interesting for those teams who don’t finish in playoffs.

Would be looking at the prospect draft only, fine with the current FA structure.

Wanted to get everyone’s ideas on this.

Does anyone want to support this and have us vote on it?

Against this.

I’m intrigued

Does anyone else want to support this lottery draft idea and bring it to a vote? Maybe one more person

Let's at least vote

Ok we'll vote on it then.

But first, Alex, do you want to propose how exactly this lottery would work, like the details?

Yes please

Happy to elaborate, thanks for asking.

Thinking of an odd system as follows. This could be took complicated and open to suggestions. I've included the following with results below.

Consider the following from the 24/25 League results.

Lottery - 30 balls total, draw from picks #1 to #4, with number of balls decreasing for each team based on inverse standings. From last years standings, Oilers would have highest probability of first pick with 16 balls or 53.33% chance. Team picked would have remaining balls removed from additional selections, unless additional lottery picks are owned. We could denote this with a name total, indicating the original pick owner. For example Ducks own Flames 1.2 selection this year, state it as Ducks - (Flames) for naming.

Website to use - https://www.fantasydraftlottery.com/ or happy to draw individually and record for the league with witnesses on video.

Balls for each team given season standings last season;

Oilers - 16 (53.33%)

Flames - 8 (30.00%)

Blackhawks - 4 (13.33%)

Red Wings - 1 (3.33%)

Happy to discuss format changes or elaborate if needed.
