New Rule Change Proposal
Let's say I post that I'm unprotecting Jack Ivankovic, because I think no one wants him. I make the post. And now Ivankovic is unprotected. But another team reaches out and says hey, I'll offer you something for him. What this rule allows, is that when I trade Ivankovic away, I trade him as a protected prospect.
ok got it. so you are not using a prospect change to reprotect within 24 hours
Correct. Basically it's to solve a problem where sometimes a team will unprotect a prospect and then it's like ugh, why didn't you say that protected prospect was available. So it's a way to allow that prospect to be traded away still protected. Spirit of the rule is like DFA in baseball, designated for assignment. For us to do that, and then it's either trade the player somewhere and if not, then waivers. Once the player is dropped in Yahoo or a post is made that the prospect is unprotected, there's still no going back from it. Player either gets traded or cut.
