2 owner changes and what happens now
Quote from Chris on September 26, 2024, 6:04 pmAlright guys, you're obviously all aware of what's been going on with Flyers and Capitals because I've been texting you all about it.
When I first texted you guys yesterday, I was thinking, let's just float this out there, maybe give them a warning. But I was surprised to see how quick you guys were in saying that you've also been frustrated with them for a long time. So we moved quickly yesterday when I saw no one had a problem with them leaving.
Kicking people out of a fantasy league is never fun and it's not enjoyable. It doesn't feel good to do it. But at the same time, I think it was the right move for the league because it's not just about what's best for Flyers and Capitals. I have to think about what's best for the other 7 guys in the league and prioritze you because the rest of the league is active and communicates with each other. And it's that participation that makes the league what it is and fun.
Moving forward, Matt from our baseball league will be taking over Flyers. And I can't say enough good things about the dude. He's very active in baseball leagues and has become friends with a lot of us. Very sharp, knows baseball well and I'm sure that'll translate well into hockey. He knows how our league works. He's going to be a really good fit.
Clarence's brother Darwin will be taking over Capitals. Clarence said he's in another league with Darwin, so he knows hockey and has experience in fantasy leagues. I was texting with Darwin last night and he seems excited to jump in.
I also mentioned to both that they could switch orgs if they want as there's precedent for new guys joining the league to have the ability to do that. I also thought it would be fair for both to have they're 3 prospect changes and get direct and free access to the prospects of whatever org they choose. Obviously all the best prospects have been taken with the prospect draft being almost done, but at the same time, Flyers loaded up on Philly prospects like Luchanko and Caps loaded up on Utah prospects like Iginla. If anyone has any issues with this, let me know.
So as far as what to do now, being that we're at the tail end of the prospect draft and the FA draft was supposed to start tomorrow, I thought the best thing to do was to give Matt and Darwin some time to look over their teams and prospects to figure out what they want to do. Thought it'd be good to give them until the end of Wed Oct 2 to post their prospect picks. Especially Flyers being that the team has 8 unused prospect picks, gives him a lot of flexibility to change the players or prospects on his team a bit if he wants.
Then I was thinking we start the FA Draft Thu Oct 3. Try to knock the FA Draft out in 4-5 days. Then open FA Mon Oct 7 or Tue Oct 8 at the lastest as NHL Opening Night is Tue Oct 8.
In the meantime, trades are still open. You can still add and drop guys you own rights to whenever you want.
I'll post Darwin's contact info as soon as he tells me he's comfortable with it. Same with Matt, although a lot of you already have his #.
Everybody all good with this? Does anyone has any alternative ideas or issues? If you do, let me know!

Quote from Felix on September 26, 2024, 6:08 pmAll well and good, except for the FA draft start. Two of us are in Europe next week and a draft is going to be the furthest thing from my mind, at least for me (I assume for Alex, too, but don't want to speak for him).
I get not starting tomorrow, but the sooner we can begin, the better.

Quote from Alex on September 26, 2024, 6:16 pmFirst off, welcome to the league fellas!
I agree with Felix as I will be in Europe as well. Would a fair proposal be to start FA on Monday? Should be four days for the guys to crack off what they need.

Quote from Steve on September 26, 2024, 6:18 pmWelcome to the league! I think Matt will get up to speed fast because the format is the same as Baseball with some minor differences. Darwin having his brother involved should also help.
You guys feel free to reach out if you have questions about any of the rules.

Quote from Darwin on September 27, 2024, 12:36 pmLooks like Matt and Darwin are okay with starting the FA Draft on Monday morning. Anybody have an issue with that? If not, we'll officially set Monday 1201am west coast time as the start date. Time limit in draft is 12 hours in 1st round, 6 hours in all rounds after that. Time limit paused between 9pm to 8am west coast time. Teams can still post picks during that paused time though if they want.
